When I do need HDR, I still use Nik HDR Efex because I can keep it real fairly easily. I've cut back on HDR significantly (mostly because I find my camera captures DR pretty well in one image). Their PhotoEngine product is their HDREngine coupled with a denoiser and a multiple lighting utility - neither of which I have used, but looked interesting. They offer the normal 30 day non-crippled trial. I have found it easy, quick and painless - with the results being exactly what I was expecting.
